General Picture Information
Editing items on the General tab of gallery pictures.

Name -- this is the actual filename of the picture. It is probably best to leave it alone.

Title -- this is what matters. Use a descriptive title for your picture. If you use the custom fields, some things such as manufacturer, model number, painter, etc may be redundant.

Summary -- a little blurb or snipped about the picture. This will show up on the album pages, so be brief! I like to use italics in the summary field to add a little interest to the information. Use the i button or surround the summary with bracket-i-bracket, bracket-slash-i-bracket to make italics.

Keywords -- some information you want to add to the picture. The site has a great search function, and the keywords help your item get found.

Description -- this is the full story of your picture. Knock yourself out! Be descriptive here. Write that novella you've always been planning. The description will appear at the top of the image page.

Photo Date and Time -- bah, leave this alone. The site will either use the uploaded date and time, or it will pull that info from the picture itself.

Thumbnail -- leave this alone, too. This is to specify the size of your picture's thumbnail. It will default to the value used by the site or your album if it is different. No sense in having miscellaneous thumbnail sizes!!

Hide Photo -- this is a great feature if you want to display your picture to a limited audience, but don't want it browseable. For example, if you enter a painting contest, you can post your picture here, and folks can't see it unless they link directly to it.

Password Protection -- as it says. This could be good for materials of questionable taste, or if you really want to limit who can see the item.

Custom Thumbnail -- you can upload a special thumbnail for your item! This is great if your picture is too big for the cropping tool to work. I also use it if the gallery pictures don't have just the right angle in them to make a good representation of the picture.
