Funnily enough, windows and frames are very near the top of my to-do list, along with doors and other similar architectural miscellany. Covings, stone porticoes, that kinda thing.

Nice idea for a thread, though - especially as everyone on FUUK seems to have gone off the idea of a 1/55 tower bridge :(

Now may be this is an old idea, but having looked at the prices of the GW buildings (addmitedly the only houses londoners can afford) it has just occurred to me that the tricky bits are the doors and windows and stuff. Most modelers can hopefully make a box with a roof.

Would a range of doors, windows, smokestacks etc be useful?

Undecorated floor tiles for dungeons or spaceships: corridors, rooms, etc. Just cut the shapes and engrave 1" or 1.5" squares (to taste). They could either have locking shapes (like spacehulk or hero quest), if desired.

Has the opportunity to also sell dungeon or spaceship fittings and/or walls.

I have no idea if this is a practical idea, or not. Just something that could be done.

It would make a great climax to the game , but because of its height the extra terrain boards next to it would have to be heavily built up in thickness too and would need a load of extra buildings to represent the houses of parliament etc.

Err....Houses of Parliament are a fair way off from Tower Bridge...but the Tower of London's next door :lurk:

I've been sketching up some ways of building it and myself and Snuurg reckon we could fit it onto three demountable 4' square boards. The main work would be in strengthening the bascules when they'd only be fixed at one end (assuming half the bridge makes approx 12' on its' own) enough so that people could use the (partially raised) surface to game on.

The only caveat I'd have for building it would be that somebody arranged collection/delivery. We build enough of these kinda big models to work around demountable support legs, dis-assembleable structures, etc. This time next year we may have our own stand at Salute so would be booked ourselves for moving/installing etc.

Anyway....back on topic :juggle

@Phil - funnily enough, a pack of assorted chimneys was another thing near the top of my list. I'm halfway through mastering a mixed set of dungeon/fantasy-type doors. And windows are on the list already too.

@Keeper - I started a set of laser-cut tiles matching the spacehulk tiles a while back, to suit 40mm GW bases, then got bogged down in detailing them and building walls. I will revisit them at some point (and post pics of WIP when the camera batteries are recharged)

and @Bungle again - I've got CAD artwork for half a dozen styles of modern door on my PC at the workshop. Would you guys prefer doors, windows etc as resin pieces pretty much ready to fit, or as acrylic kits needing a bit of assembly, with pre-cut "glass" panels to fit?

Once I figure out how to attach a forum to my website I'll be posting a full list of to-do stuff for you all to pore over and to add to. It always helps to have input as the stuff I think might sell is probably not necessarily the stuff that will shift itself out of the store (hello resin scenery).

Ooh and while I think about it, and on that note - 1/55 scale park benches anyone? Artwork for a kit of those is almost done....

Doors - double sided would be easier with acrylic kit pieces. Resin doors would be (probably) cheaper. Resin's almost always cheaper - put the detail work into the master and cast away till the moulds die; with acrylic there's more lead-in time with having to produce decent instructions for the non-intelligent consumers out there :roll

Haven't found any decent cross section dimensions for the bridge yet, but it's 4 traffic lanes plus a bit. Standard UK traffic lane is 4.2m so that makes it roughly 320mm wide at scale. Narrow enough to have a about foot and a half of surrounding buildings/terrain to either side at the base where it feathers out to road level.

I've got so many ideas for this thing now I'll probably end up making it anyway, regardless of the FUUK decision :lurk
