Well I've been pondering this for a while now. Some of you might have noticed the castlemolds thread I started on FOD a few weeks ago. No I happen to think that Hirst Arts stuff is brilliant, and I love casting and making things anyway. However when you have used the mould for one or two creations it then doesn't have much more use.
I've recently tried selling one of my creations, a quarter tower on ebay, with little in the way of success. Was the price too high? Was the piece just not what is wanted? Is landscape more desirable than buildings and structures.
I am thinking about a little sideways expansion in my usual miniature dealing but don't know whether the scenery would be worth the initial expense.
If you could choose, what would you like to see being made?

Something lightweight, and easily stored that is also robust so can withstand rough handling.
I'm not a fan of Hirst arts stuff or old Linka either..
I buy stuff as I find it or see it.
I don't tend to buy much in the way of "finished" items I prefer painting myself, but I hate painting absorbent plaster based products.
what do I buy? It depends on the item.

It would have to be something that appealed to me as being special. I've made some terrain myself in the past and intend (and have plans) to make more. Stuff that I've bought tends to be detailed pieces that I would find it difficult to make for myself - for example, I recently purchased some resin egyptian style pieces from geronimo @ Fenris Games, for a stargate project I've slowly got going on. I have also picked up phoneboxes (one not at all to be used as a Tardis ;)) and his nice foo dogs - lots of game uses for ruined statues!!
I've come to like resin an awful lot, mostly because it meets a lot of the requirements I have, which pretty much match what Bungle says, above. Plaster pieces really do not appeal to me, especially after finishing that 10mm farm/inn/wizards tower thing earlier this year, which seems to be some kind of dental plaster. Fine at 10mm scale, but far too weighty for anything in 28mm.

I like those larger pieces by GW like the orc village, the graveyard, and the stronghold. Pieces that are durable, full of character, and are playable.
Tree stands are also cool.
I'd be afraid that plaster pieces would be too heavy and fragile for storage and transport.

Ah-ha, as a certain A. Partridge would say. Of course I hadn't taken into account that you guys game with these pieces, hence resin is the perfect choice. Plaster is fairly hard but it is heavy and does chip so i can see why you opt for resin. And as there is already a rather good supplier I think I'll leave well alone and just concentrate on my miniature auctions.

Oh a plaster painting tip. Mix up a solution of PVA glue and water, to the consistancy of milk. Paint this on the new plaster and it will seal it making it easier to paint.
