As some of you may know, my oven is not working, which caused me to look to see if there were other ways to cure Fimo. I was successful and the details can be found here.

Next stage was to try the process out to find how long the item should be boiled. Hence I attempted my second ever sculpt, based on the Abhumans from the Starlord Comic Strip "Planet of the Damned". Several lessons were learned, including use thinner armature wire and look at your reference materials before you start.
Abhumans are supposed to look like this

bit mine ended up like this.

Had some trouble sticking new Fimo to cured Fimo so did the digits with superglue and milliput. My scultpting skills have a way to go yet!

Here he is with a quick paint job

I'll be sorting out a few minor details later.

5 minutes boiling time seems to be ideal.

Not so good is my paint situation. I decided to dilute my Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal the other day and put a drop too much water in it. Oddly the paint went really silvery. So this weekend I tried to buy some more and was unable to find any in my local shop, in Holborn and even made the mistake of going to Hamileys at this time of year. Turns out that Tamiya have withdrawn all of their metalic paints until January, possibly February. This is incredibly bad news for me since it means that I'll be unable to finish any firearmed models for the next couple of months. Expect to see a lot more tyranids and fantasy warriors painted!
