Olleys Armies

Olleys Armies.

Very nice stuff, love the Dwarf World things, and the Scrunts, and now that he's announced his departure, I'm greatly moved.

But -- I don't know if I can see this stuff in my collection! I tend to go for things that are either very outlandish or rare, or things that can somehow fit into a game or into a theme I have in mind. I really like the idea of Dwarf World, and the figures are full of life and character, but their size really limits them! They just wouldn't fit with my other villagers. Thats probably why I haven't collected them so far.

Overwhlemed

I got the impression from the message that they've posted on their front page about being overwhelmed with orders that a lot of people (myself included) had them on their list of companies producing neat stuff, but not right at the top, so that I would only ever make an order, once they'd got all the stuff from the companies at the top of the list.

But, with them announcing that they wouldn't be around anymore, everyone jumped in with an order. Its the reason I had the PABPM on my wishlist, so I wouldn't forget to go back for it one day.

I can only imagine it is really difficult, but his various flavours of dwarves must just not quite have been hitting the sweet spot in the market that a lot of us thought they were.

Sore thumb?

maybe because of the wonky scale?

I wonder, with the increasing trend to sculpt in >30 and 40mm, they might actually fit in with those "artistic" scales... maybe gamers will even change the 1" grid to a 1.5" grid to accommodate for the larger scales in roleplaying? (Heroclix already uses larger grids...)

Yeah, I agree with your view; they're on my list, but not near the top, but now that he's closing down, I want to jump in and pick up the figures I like. Too bad I can't use his stuff for the DoD!
