Grenadier Dragons of the Month

Back in the mid 80's Grenadier had the bright idea of making and selling a series of dragon miniatures. These were called the Dragon of the Month series and followed the AD&D dragon classes. Each was sold in a rather nice box with original artwork on the front, and came with a little white metal altar and a gemstone that matched the colour of the dragon it was representing, ( well nearly ). Tha added bonus with this was once you had collected all twelve dragons you could send the proofs of purchase from each box, back to Grenadier and they would send you the thirteenth dragon, the dragon lord free!
This was so popular, and probably profitable that Grenadier repeated the formula. The second AD&D based series of Dragon of the Month, ( D of the M II ), followed much the same lines. All the Dragons in the AD&D game world but this time with human companions instead of the altars and gemstones. I started collecting the first series a bit late and only managed to get half way. The remainder I had to make up from the second series.
