Wilf the Giant

"Wilf" is the result of a conversation with my friend Ed on Fantasy Giants. I felt that most examples were far too lanky and that more attention to biophysics might result in something that was more interesting in appearance and possibly more credible. Shortly after this I joined the Forum of Doom and found that a Gentleman called Vermis was following a similar thread of thought. I'd already planned to make Wilf before joining the forum but admit that the idea of the normal sized sword as a toothpick was taken from Vermis' Illustration:Vermis' GiantVermis' Giant

This is my first ever attempt at sculpting. Figure was made from Fimo Soft and his bag made from Friendly Plastic. Wilf was born on March 31st 2007 at around 7 o'clock Uncle Phil

Fun Sculpt!

What a great piece for a first effort! Is that a 50mm base?

Wilf's base

Creating Wilf took considerably less time than I expected -only a few hours so I suddenly found myself with nothing to base him on. The base is actually a plastic container lid and it is probably 2.5-3" in diameter at least. You should be able to get some idea of the size from the swordsman figure in the unpainted shot.

If I did this again I'd probably have put him on a lower base (ie made a base before I started sculpting!). Giving the base a straight front with a section marked of the same width as the official GW giant base would also make it easier to use him with WH rules.

From Heel to Head Wilf is just under 5" tall.
